Your maturity result: BeginnerIntermediateAdvanced
Beginner
Your score means your technology infrastructure maturity is only at the beginning stage.
- You may be at the beginning stages of maturing your technology infrastructure but recognize that there is plenty of assistance for newcomers to avoid mistakes that other customers may have made at the beginning of their journeys. Consultants and technology advisors can help!
- Ensure that your objectives and the POVs and approaches from your potential partners are in sync from the start.
- Set up pockets of innovation, encouraging smaller teams to practice “microscopic transformation.”
- Think about technology infrastructure “comparables” already in place with insurance peers, and start a dialogue with them that pushes your thinking and approaches within the insurance market.
- Go above what you think you need when it comes to getting business stakeholder participation — often, they don’t know what you’re asking, what they want, or the art of the possible. This will limit the number of change requests.
- Beware the specter of shadow IT — consider establishing a nascent program office that will be responsible for managing infrastructure and marketplace initiatives that will help contain the inevitable surprises.
Intermediate
Your score means your technology infrastructure maturity has advanced to the intermediate stage.
- While you’ve made progress, there’s still more work to do for your firm to achieve a high degree of proficiency in modernizing your technology infrastructure.
- Strive to bring more business and technology stakeholders into your infrastructure strategy meetings.
- Focus on initiatives that will impact budgets and financials ahead of all things experience.
- If you’ve deprioritized some items, use the results of this survey to elevate their importance.
- Recognize that you may have multiple teams working on infrastructure modernization across the business, but strive to connect them now. It may be painful at first, but it will be worth the effort in forging alliances, adopting consistent approaches, and aligning KPIs/OKRs.
- Consider methods that offer greater flexibility, more modern practices and technologies, and creative approaches to co-innovate with your infrastructure partners.
Advanced
Congratulations, your score means that your technology infrastructure maturity is advanced! Consider the following:
- Your score indicates that you’re 1) a leading-edge practitioner when it comes to your infrastructure modernization strategy or 2) you’re being too generous with your scorecard!
- Recognize that investments are easier to get when there is work to do.
- Assuming you are in the vanguard, practice continuous improvement, where your firm rigorously reexamines your approach, models, and delivery.
- Be open to outcome-based agreements with the right partners since your next value threshold will come from iterative improvements, tighter alignment with other initiatives, cocreation, and value delivered.
- Adopt an enterprisewide focus and the change management to keep technology infrastructure on the leading edge.
- Think about technology infrastructure peers outside the insurance industry and start a dialogue with them that pushes you beyond what’s happening in the general insurance market.
